This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal information collected through our training and learning management platform hosted on Thinkific (the “Platform”).
This policy complies with Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
1. Personal Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to administer your training, verify identities, process transactions, and provide compliance records. This includes:
Account Information: Full name, business or personal email address, phone number, job title, and employer/facility affiliation.
Course and Performance Data: Enrollment dates, course progress, completion timestamps, quiz and assessment scores, certification records, and user engagement logs.
Payment Details (Retail/Public Buyers): Billing address and payment transaction identifiers. Please note: QAMSI does not store full credit card numbers or banking credentials. All transactions are securely processed by third-party PCI-DSS compliant payment gateways (such as Stripe).
Technical and Platform Usage Data: IP addresses, browser types, device information, operating systems, and page interaction data captured via cookies and standard platform analytics.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information strictly for operational and educational purposes, including:
Provisioning and maintaining your user account and course access.
Delivering course materials, tracking learning progress, and issuing certificates of completion.
Verifying identity and maintaining training compliance records.
For corporate client employees: Providing completion, competency, and assessment reports directly to your employer’s designated management, safety, or HR leadership.
Communicating important platform updates, system maintenance alerts, and transactional notices (such as receipts and password resets).
Ensuring platform security, detecting fraud, and preventing unauthorized account sharing.
3. Disclosure of Information to Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, trade, or lease your personal information. We disclose personal information only in the following limited circumstances:
- To Your Employer / Sponsoring Facility: If your course access is funded, provisioned, or required by your employer or a client facility under a corporate agreement, your progress, assessment scores, completion status, and log timestamps will be shared directly with your employer’s designated administrators.
- To Service Providers and Sub-Processors: We utilize trusted service providers to operate our platform, including service provider (learning management system hosting), cloud storage providers, and payment processors. These providers are bound by strict data protection agreements and may process data only to provide their contracted services.
- Legal and Regulatory Compliance: We may disclose information if required to do so by applicable law, court order, subpoena, or regulatory authority (such as an occupational safety or technical standards audit).
4. Data Storage and Cross-Border Transfers
Our training platform is hosted through Thinkific and associated secure cloud infrastructure. Consequently, your personal information may be stored or processed on servers located in Canada or the United States. While information is resident in another jurisdiction, it is subject to the laws of that jurisdiction and may be accessible to foreign legal authorities under lawful orders.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information and training records only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected:
Compliance and Audit Records: Because technical training and safety records are often subject to industrial regulatory audits (e.g., ABSA, safety standards, corporate compliance), completion records and assessment histories may be retained for the minimum statutory period required by relevant regulations or governing corporate agreements.
Inactive Accounts: Account credentials and inactive user records will be archived or securely deleted in accordance with our routine data governance practices once access agreements expire.
6. Data Security
We employ industry-standard technical, organizational, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, loss, or misuse. This includes SSL/TLS encryption for all data transmitted to and from the Platform, strict access controls, and administrative review. However, no internet transmission or electronic storage method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Under applicable Canadian privacy legislation, you have the right to:
Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
Request corrections to inaccurate, out-of-date, or incomplete information.
Withdraw consent to future data collection (subject to contractual or legal restrictions, and noting that withdrawal may terminate your platform access or ability to verify course completions).
Note for Corporate Learners: If your training is administered under a corporate agreement with your employer, requests for record modification, deletion, or access may be redirected to your company’s training coordinator or system administrator.
8. Updates to this Policy
We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Changes will take effect immediately upon posting to the Platform, with an updated "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Platform following any modifications constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
